A vision for Amorgos, which is thinking from the ground up

Amidst the forecast for Amorgos and its alignment with other tourist islands in the Cyclades, there arises a question:  Is this truly the future of Amorgos?
In response, this project emerges, offering suggestions and ideas to counteract the challenges of mass tourism, the erosion of tradition, and the economic dependence on tourism, while simultaneously returning to the island's authentic roots. By leveraging the unique soil characteristics and agricultural heritage of this Greek island, we envision a future that resists commercialization, fostering a space that fosters cultivation, knowledge transfer, and the harmonious interconnection of tourism and agriculture. Guided by the principles that consider the climatic future of Europe, our proposal involves implementing a comprehensive land use plan, establishing a knowledge distribution hub, creating an agrotourism farm, and expanding the existing infrastructure. This project strives to pave the way for a future Amorgos that remains true to its essence, while embracing sustainable development and fostering a thriving community.
