Habitat Unit X Urban Catalyst X Hybrid City Lab

This video is the last part of our semester. We tried to digest all the
research we've done and the insides we've gotten from the local people to formulate our thoughts about the situation of Großräschen. As a conclusion of this process, in the final two weeks, we got the chance to contribute something which might enhance the conversation about the future.
We as a team decided to focus on design and participation. Trying to use the tools we've gotten from our architectural education to shape and picture future scenarios for a specific location reflecting on its spatial potentials. In these scenarios, the only thing that differs is the water level of the lake. This single factor changes everything, not only for the city but for the whole region.
In our eyes, this adaptation to unsteady climatic conditions is going to be one of the main focus points of future architecture. But it’s not only about the future, we hope to spark a conversation even about existing buildings and infrastructures which have lost their purpose. We are convinced that often there is still some special potential left in them and that finding the right function might be the key to bring them back to life!

Thanks for watching!
